Our Viral (1M View) Sourdough Crunch Onion Rings

I was not an onion ring fan. I believe onion rings need to be more onion than batter. More onion juice than frier oil.

Enter our friend: Girl and Her Dog Farm. Michelle (the girl) and Rita (the dog) approached us with an idea…to make the world’s largest onion ring! We checked Guinness and no one has submitted for this category yet, so we owe them a call!

Secrets: The secret to crunchy onion rings is all in the breadcrumb and dredging process (below). The secret to the biggest onion rings is our 4+ lb onion! If your onions are not as large, fear not, no recipe altering necessary.

Tips: As for the basic fixes to my onion ring woes… we use Conza Sourdough Crunch, instead of batter. And we use an air fryer + oil spray combo instead of deep frying!

Crunchy Crispy Onion Rings with Air Fryer and Sourdough Breadcrumbs

Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees F for 20 minutes

Slice Your Onions

Slice 3/4” thick, carefully. Try not to break any rings.

Whisk Flour Mixture on a Plate

1 Cup All Purpose Flour

1 Cup Corn Starch

1 Tbs of Sea Salt

1 Tsp of Ground Black Pepper

Beat Very Well

2-3 Eggs

Dredge Sesh

Lightly dust your rings with the flour mixture. Dust off excess.

Dip in Eggs and let excess egg drain back onto egg plate before the next step.

Coat with Conza Sourdough Crunch! Any flavor will do. We used our Classic Italian with Parmesan. Conza coats very well and has coarser crumb for extra crunch!

Secret Spray

Give a quick 1-2 second spray with Avocado Oil Spray on your prepped rings.

Layer very gently in your Air Fryer and fry for 6-8 minutes! Ta-dahhhh. Dip in your fave ranch or aioli and enjoy!
